Scrimp means to subsist on a meager allowance while lavish is just the opposite it means to expend profusely. Economical means avoiding waste, careful means cautiously attentive and polite means marked by refinement in taste and manners.

Delectable refers to extremely pleasing to the sense of taste, distasteful is the opposite, not pleasing in odour or taste. Laborious means arduous or difficult. Unbearable means incapable of being put up with and delicious means greatly pleasing or entertaining.

Grave means serious or gloomy. Noble means having or showing or indicative of high or elevated character. Lively means buoyant and bustling. Solemn means dignified , earnest. Senile means mentally or physically infirm with age. The antonym of grave is boisterous.

Confidant means someone to whom private matters are confided whereas turncoat refers to a disloyal person who betrays or deserts his cause or religion or political party or friend etc. Confederate is a person who joins with another in carrying out some plan. Arrogant means having or showing feelings of unwarranted importance out of overbearing pride. Firm means not soft or yielding to pressure.

Amalgamate means joined together into a whole while split is the opposite. Consecrate means to bless. Merge means add together different elements. Impoverish means become poor.
