Medal means a piece of metal similar to a coin which is issued to commemorate special events: “The players of the winning team were awarded gold medals by the chief guest.”
Meddle, on the other hand, means to interfere, to get involved in something that is not one’s personal concern; to take part in other people’s affairs without being asked or needed; to interfere with: “We should not meddle with other people’s privacy.”
