Liqueur & Liquor

Liqueur means any of various strongly flavored alcoholic beverages typically served in small quantities after dinner: “Martini is a very famous brand of liqueur which people lick instead of drinking.”
Liquor on the other hand, means an alcoholic beverage made by distillation rather than by fermentation: “To make a particular brand of liquor popular distillers hire actors to advertise.”
