difference Between liable,libel and slanderLiable has the following meanings:-
1. At risk for an accident: “Take exercise daily or else you are liable to gain weight.”
2. Legally responsible: “The court has ordered that the son is liable to pay the debts of the dead father.”
Libel means uttering or publishing slanderous, treasonable, or obscene statements about someone: “Any newspaper that indulges in libel and mudslinging without any proof can be sued in the court for damages.”
Slander, means oral statements that defame another person’s reputation; false charges: “Mohan is a rumour monger and his only aim to slander those who differ with him.”
