Ingenious & Ingenuous

Ingenious is characterized by an aptitude for invention and resourcefulness; being clever, tricky, or shrewd: “The lawyer I have engaged in known for his ingenious arguments.”
Ingenuous , on the other hand, is characterized by a childlike candor, without subtlety; open, frank, innocent: “She welcomed us with an ingenuous smile and offered us a seat.”
