Human is characteristic of any living or extinct member of human beings, male and female: “Mahatma Gandhi was an exceptionally noble human being.”

Humane , on the other hand, is characterized by sympathetic compassion and caring for another individual or animal: “Taking the destitute and ailing people to a hospice was a humane act for which Mother Teresa was well known.”
