Enervate & Innervate

Enervate means to decrease or to reduce vitality or strength: “Alcohol enervates human organs.”
Innervate means to stimulate (a nerve, muscle, or body part) to action: “The physio’s job is to innervate the athlete’s legs and help him gain strength to run.”
There was no need to innervate the crowd in the stadium because the people were enthusiastic enough.
If anything, it would be more important to enervate their enthusiasm before they head out on to the streets.
