Emigrant & Immigrant

Emigrant is an individual or object that has left a country or location to settle in another location: “An Indian women has decided to emigrate to America.”
Immigrant on the other hand, is an as individual or object which has come from a different location and settled in a new area: “My grandfather was an immigrant from Britain.”

Remember: If you are an emigrant you are leaving the country and if you are an immigrant you are moving to a country.

The story of the settlement of the nation is a combined narrative ofimmigrants coming from their homelands to settle and to build the next generation of emigrants who have moved from the cities out onto the prairies to farm.
