Elemental refers primarily to the forces of nature and in particular to the ancient belief in the four ‘elements’ of earth, water, fire and air. For example: elemental fire, elemental spirits. Elementary means ‘rudimentary, introductory’. For example: elementary mathematics, elementary grammar etc.
