Either & Ether

Either , as we all know, means one or the other: “You will need to choose either the red shirt or the blue one.”
Ether, on the other hand, refers to a volatile, highly flammable liquid, used chiefly in industry and as an anesthetic: “Ether is used by doctors to put patients to sleep.”

The patient was faced with a choice; either the doctor could use ether or a local anesthetic for the minor operation.
