Affluent & Effluent

Affluent applies to people who have large incomes, usually incomes spent freely. For example: The rich and affluent in society can almost afford anything.
Effluents are liquids; such as sewage or industrial chemicals, that are released as waste: “The textile industry has been accused of discharging effluents into the Ganges river.”
