Article 1: Warning. This article on gay marriage contains optimism

The article is based on the recent change of track of US political classes on the issue of Gay Marriages. Tracking the recent developments in the area, the author points out how the battle has been a long one and has been fought about by activists to ensure justice. The point, which is really the most pertinent one, is how politicians are swift to change their views simply for electoral gains , and how this is pretty much a universal phenomena. For those of us who viewed Indian politicians with contempt, I guess this article shows how the ilk of politicians is pretty much the same across the planet.

Wordpandit’s view on the topic: Gay people have the right to decide their own future, and politicians should not have the right to decide on matters of personal choice. What is your view?

Article 2: Shots in the Dark

This is an excellent piece on the topic of ‘Gun control’ in the United States. Considering the gruesome cases of shootouts in schools etc. that have come to light in the recent times, Americans have long opined the need for stronger gun laws. The proposed bill in the parliament has been stalled in the US congress and arguments of politicians and gun lobby have highlighted in the article. The article is a wonderful illustration of critical reasoning and the kid of arguments that are being used by gun lobbyists to justify their position.

Wordpandit’s view on the topic: well, guns should be banned. Really, what is the need? We know this sounds trivial but a world without guns would be a much better one to live in.

Article 3: Sounds and silence

Reading suggestions for CAT
This is an extremely small piece, and in fact, we have reproduced above one paragraph itself from the article. An insightful piece into the nature of sound and noise, this short article is the perfect example of abstract reading required for exam such as CAT/GMAT/GRE. Do read for sure.
