In the most precise editorial language, it is a selection of the week’s best articles, condensed and reviewed for our users. Is this section of any good when we already provide daily reads to our users? Well, it most definitely is. The articles featured here will add to your knowledge bank as well as help you become better readers. Happy reading!

Well, this week’s Editor’s Pick has one central theme: the fall in prices of Gold. We have picked two articles on the issue: one presents the tale in America and the other in India.

Article-1: Lust for Gold

The first article for this week is based on Paul Krugman’s assessment of the fall in gold prices. According to him, this is inevitable outcome which was meant to happen. Explaining the way gold has behaved and how people generally expect it to behave, the article does a wonderful job of explaining what the gold investments are all about and the kind of sentiments attached to it. Having been written from an American perspective, the article does pose a few problems in terms of relating to it. Read it and look up the terms of economics you could not understand.

Article 2: Gold: The party’s over

The second article for this week is based almost seems to be a replica of the first one, the only difference being the context. SA Aiyar brings the gold discussion to the Indian landscape and discusses how the situation will pan out in the future, what the government has done and what it should be doing instead. A simple read that will help you understand the topic further.

Article 3: Drilling holes in the Thirst Economy

The reason for putting in this serious piece is twinfold:
a. To highlight what is happening in India, and understand the blunt facts of the situation
b. To read an example of factual reading, an article that is based on facts and yet is analytical in its approach and conclusions.
Kindly share the third article with as many friends as possible, something we all should know and talk about: the plight of farmers in this country.
