Jinks & Jinx

Jinks means to move quickly, making sudden turns and twists, and dodging: “After hitting pedestrians on the road, the car driver raced the car making many jinks so that he should not be caught .”
Jinx , on the other hand, means something that causes bad luck or misfortune: “Some people think that if a black cat crosses one’s way it will jinx one and would bring one misfortune.”
